Rangers star Kemar Roofe was sent off for a horro "kung fu" challenge of Slavia Praha's goalkeeper – six minutes after coming on as a substitute.

The forward ran onto a long ball from Connor Goldson and tried to reach it with a high boot but ended up hitting Ondrej Kolar in the face on 61 minutes.

And the shot-stopper was left with blood pouring down his face as the 28-year-old was shown a straight red, having replaced Scott Arfield minutes earlier.

Slavia's goalkeeper received immediate treatment from the physio team before a stretch was brought on the pitch, seeing 18-year-old Matyas Vagner replace him with the Czech side 1-0 up at the Ibrox.

It only got worse for Gerrard's side, though, as Leon Balogun picked up a second yellow card 10 minutes later for a foul on Lukas Masopust brought down.

And foward Nicolae Stanciu scored the second goal from the following free kick.
