Kylian Mbappe is allegedly frustrated Paris Saint-Germain failed to stick to their word and rejected Real Madrid’s approaches for his signature in the summer transfer window. Real were ready to match PSG’s valuation, but the Ligue 1 giants have kept hold of Mbappe for another season.

The 22-year-old’s future was still up in the air heading into deadline day on Tuesday, with £188.9million (€220m) PSG’s asking price.

According to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, Real were willing to pay for Mbappe before Tuesday’s deadline, but PSG stalled on an answer.

It led to the two clubs running out of time to complete a deal, with Real now set to sign the French superstar on a free transfer next year.

Based on reports in Spain, Mbappe isn’t happy with PSG’s stubborn stance throughout the transfer saga.

Marca claim Mbappe hoped an agreement would be reached before Tuesday night after PSG gave him their word.

The young forward ‘expected a gesture that never happened’ and has had to postpone his ‘dream’ for another year.

On the contrary, Mbappe knew Real’s promises were real due to the money they offered to sign him.

Although PSG’s response wasn’t his desired outcome, he isn’t expected to cause issues in the campaign ahead and will focus on playing football well.

Solhekol has also suggested that PSG basically ignored Real in the latter stages of the transfer window.

He told The Transfer Show: “The official line is that at the moment, PSG will not accept the offer at the moment, and Real Madrid will not increase the offer.

“Real Madrid have tried to conduct themselves properly by paying what they believe the player is worth, despite having 10 months left on his contract, and PSG have basically ignored them.

“As far as the player is concerned, he wants to go to Madrid. He will not sign a new contract at PSG, but as things stand, PSG have decided not to respond to the offer and to keep Mbappe.”

It’s not all doom and gloom for Mbappe, who will likely enjoy another season of prolific goalscoring in France.

He will be the focal point of Mauricio Pochettino’s attack at the Parc des Princes, in between Neymar and Lionel Messi.

The former Monaco star is expected to enter talks with Real in January over a pre-contract agreement.

Next summer, all signs are pointing towards Los Blancos completing one of the biggest coups in football history.
