Lionel Messi’s wife celebrates with family and tells fans ‘you won’t understand’

Lionel Messi's wife has celebrated with her family and told fans "you won't understand" after Argentina reached the World Cup final.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner scored and assisted in La Albiceleste's 3-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday night to set up a meeting with either France or Morocco on Sunday. His wife Antonela Roccuzzo watched the match from the stands with their three sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.

After the final whistle, she shared two pictures of them celebrating the win on Instagram and wrote: “I can’t explain it because you won’t understand! Let’s go Argentina! Let’s go @leomessi!”

The Argentina players were also seen celebrating in the dressing room after the match and were caught on camera chanting: “I’m Argentine, f****** English from Malvinas.”

Messi produced a man of the match display to fire Argentina into a second final in three World Cups as he bids to win the one trophy which has eluded him. It will be his second final after losing to Germany in 2014.

After opening the scoring from the penalty spot, Messi grabbed an assist in the second half as he left Josko Gvardiol in his tracks with a stunning dribble before squaring for Julian Alvarez.

His assist came after he had appeared to hold his hamstring shortly after the interval, although he later eased injury concerns following the match.

Speaking to the media at full-time, he explained: “I am enjoying this A LOT. I am feeling really good, I feel strong enough to face every match.

"The previous match was a big sacrifice. Today we were tired but we pulled out strength to earn the victory. We played very well, we preferred to play this way because we knew they would not have the ball.

"We knew we would have to run. We prepared in a very good way. I feel very happy in this World Cup. I am able to help the squad."

Messi and Argentina will now turn their attention to Sunday's showpiece final, where they will take on the winner of the second semi-final between France and Morocco.
