Liverpool fans have given their thoughts on former Anfield hero Philippe Coutinho as he is linked with a summer move to bitter rivals Everton from Barcelona.

The 28-year-old has had a nightmare since leaving the Premier League to join the Catalan giants despite scoring a respectable 24 goals across 90 appearances.

The Brazil midfielder spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich but they didn’t opt to make his move permanent, with his Barca deal running until 2023.

Although two seasons remain on the agreement, Everton are said to be house-hunting for Coutinho ahead of a potential £35million deal at the end of the season.

The Sun report the news of the talks, and fans of Coutinho’s former club have made their thoughts abundantly clear following his acrimonious departure.

One wrote on Twitter: “Stop getting attached to any Liverpool player after Torres and Coutinho. It's strictly business.”

A second added: “Nah if Coutinho joins Everton i don’t know how to feel.”

A third continued: “Wait wait wait why am I seeing Coutinho being linked with EVERTON?”

With a fourth saying: “no way people believe coutinho would go to everton.”

Klopp explained back in December how both Coutinho and Roberto Firmino helped to bring Fabinho to the club from Monaco back in 2018.

He said: "We just said what we had to say, what we think and what he will be for us and stuff like this.

"I think the best help was probably Bobby as they knew each other from the national team and for sure what Phil said about Liverpool because he loved and still loves Liverpool, so these kinds of things helped.

"I can't tell you exactly what I said to him, because it was so long ago, but it was obviously convincing enough and so it came together.

That love for the club could see Coutinho find an alternative to Everton next season, but Ronald Koeman did hint that he has plans for the playmaker.

The Dutchman said following his injury in January: "He always has been an important player and he will be important, but now he has to recover…

“We are having some problems in attack and I will have to see how we can solve Philippe's absence.”
