Liverpool vs Arsenal LIVE: Latest score, goals and updates from Premier League fixture tonight

Follow all the action as Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League this evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s champions began their title defence with a thrilling but uncharacteristically error-prone 4-3 victory over Leeds on the opening day of the season, before outclassing Chelsea in a comfortable win at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s side have continued the momentum of their back-to-back Wembley victories, defeating both Fulham and West Ham. The Gunners will also be confident of causing an upset, having beaten Liverpool in the pair’s last two meetings. Follow all the action below:

Half time

The first half comes to a close. Liverpool have been dominant, outplaying and almost overwhelming an in-form Arsenal team. Even after going behind, the champions were undeterred. They’re looking ominous early in the season and should have too much for their visitors here.

45+1 min

There’ll be two minutes of added time. Arteta will want to get his players in and regroup.

42 min

Maitland-Niles suddenly finds himself in behind the Liverpool defence, latching onto a Luiz pass. But he miscontrols and the ball runs through to Alisson. He may have been offside, though it’ll be encouraging for Arsenal to see players breaking past Liverpool’s very high line.

41 min

Firmino very nearly chests a long pass deftly into the path of Salah, but Leno rushes out to claim the loose ball.

39 min

Liverpool win the ball in Arsenal’s half again and Robertson thinks he’s in behind, with time to play the ball across. But Willian tracks back well and gets a tackle in.

36 min

Fabinho wins the ball in midfield and finds Alexander-Arnold to his right. The right-back lines up a shot, driving his effort wide of the left post.

34 min

GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal (Robertson)

Robertson makes amends for his earlier error. Alexander-Arnold is the creator again, whipping a cross to the back post. The ball deflects towards Robertson, who does well to chest it down and prod his finish past the onrushing Leno. Liverpool, having been completely dominant, now lead.

33 min

Keita does well to collect a fizzed in Alexander-Arnold pass, turn and fire a shot at goal from a tight angle. Leno punches it away.

30 min

That’s another demonstration, if one was needed, of the confidence this Liverpool team are playing with now. The Arsenal goal came hugely against the run of play and could easily have deflated Klopp’s team. But they responded instantly, regaining control of the game. Arsenal will still be hopeful of causing more problems on the break, though, because Liverpool are clearly not infallible.
