Louis Saha says Edinson Cavani will be a ‘top signing’ for Manchester United, with the striker looking set to move to Old Trafford on a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old free agent will reportedly jet into Manchester on Sunday for his medical, while personal terms are said to have been already agreed.
Cavani left Paris Saint-Germain in June after seven years at the Ligue 1 outfit, in which he netted a club-record 200 goals in 301 appearances.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer entrusted Anthony Martial to fill the No.9 role last season, with Odion Ighalo providing back-up.
Former United striker Saha believes the prolific Cavani will inspire the Red Devils and is ecstatic about the prospect of the Uruguyuan moving to Old Trafford.
‘I thought Christmas was December,’ Saha wrote in a post on his Twitter page. ‘Cavani is a top signing.
‘Goal scorer and huge source of energy inspiration. Man Utd will dominate transition cause of his work rate.’
Speaking to the Football Index podcast last month, Saha urged his former side to sign Cavani, and the former France international may now have got his wish.
‘For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer,’ Saha said. ‘Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset.
‘He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market.’
