A lucky punter has turned a £40 accumulator into a whopping £18,222 thanks to EFL Cup drama which saw two late goals scored.
Betting company Betfair revealed on Twitter on Wednesday evening that there have already been a number of big winners this season, including one fan who put on a sensational 13-match accumulator for the midweek EFL Cup games.
The fortunate gambler bet just £40 which saw him take away over 400-times the initial amount after late goals in Wolves and Brentford’s matches.
Marcus Forss scored Brentford’s crucial third against Forest Green in the 86th minute to make it 3-1.
The Bees were already 2-1 up heading into the final minutes but the bet had predicted over 3.5 goals, which made Forss’ strike pivotal.
The punter was also saved by Wolves’ late goals against Nottingham Forest in their 4-0 triumph.
Wolves were already leading the Championship side 2-0 thanks to goals from Daniel Podence and Romain Saiss.
But the accumulator required at least one more goal, which Barcelona arrival Francisco Trincao and Morgan Gibbs-White took care of in the 86th and 88th minutes respectively.
It also had Stoke, Sheffield United, Leeds United, Everton, Millwall, QPR, Brighton, Fulham and Aston Villa to win their respective matches.
Total goals predictions in Shrewsbury vs Rochdale and Morecambe vs Preston made up the remainder of the successful bets.
