Eric Bailly may have just proved that Manchester United do not need to follow Gary Neville’s advice and dip into the transfer market for a new centre-back.
The Red Devils 2020 just three points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have a game in hand.
United have not won a Premier League title since 2013 though have impressed this season despite previous calls to strengthen their back-line.
Harry Maguire has regularly been partnered by Victor Lindelof though the Swede is currently out injured.
Bailly has stepped in in place of Lindelof and has impressed alongside Maguire, helping United to a clean sheet against Wolves.
Neville had said back in September that his former club have no chance of winning the league unless they improve their central defensive options.
Though Bailly is taking his opportunity to defy that prediction with the Red Devils fully in the race for the title.
"We can talk about [Jadon] Sancho all we like but until United get a centre back who can run and defend one-on-ones they are never going to win the league," Neville had said.

"They are never going to win the Premier League with that centre back pairing.
"They have to get a mobile, dominant centre half in alongside either Lindelof or Maguire.
"Over the years, the best centre back partnerships have always had that really quick one who has lightning pace to get across and snuff out the danger. Lindelof and Maguire just don't have that."

Bailly earned plaudits for his performance in the win over Wolves having finished the game with a 100 per cent tackle success rate and 94 per cent passing accuracy.
The Ivory Coast star made 11 ball recoveries while securing four interceptions as United scored late on to earn victory.
He’ll be hoping it’s enough to keep his place whenever Lindelof returns to fitness.
