Man Utd and Man City given Kalidou Koulibaly transfer update by Napoli chief

Kalidou Koulibaly has been on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest teams for years, and it appeared that Napoli might finally be willing to sell the centre-back amid interest from Manchester United and Manchester City. The Serie A side’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has now given an update on the situation.

Manchester United and Manchester City have been given an update about a potential transfer for Kalidou Koulibaly by Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli.

The Premier League duo are thought to be keen on Senegalese defender Koulibaly, who has been linked with the majority of Europe’s biggest clubs in the past.

It was thought that United and City were looking to add defensive reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, having shown frailties in their opening Premier League games.

But they won’t be able to turn to Koulibaly for help, according to Napoli sporting director Giuntoli.

It was thought that Koulibaly may be available this summer after years of Napoli turning down offers for the resolute centre-back.

But Giuntoli has admitted that he is fairly confident that the 29-year-old will remains at the San Paolo Stadium.

“Our squad is complete, so will now try to release players who won’t have much time on the pitch,” Giuntoli told Sky in Italy on Sunday afternoon.
