Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Facundo Pellistri has all the tools to become a “top player” at Manchester United after sealing a £10million move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day.
Pellistri, 18, left Uruguayan side Penarol to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Red Devils.
The youngster was previously coached by ex-United striker Diego Forlan at Penarol and is rated highly, also attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Lyon were also believed to have launched an offer for him, yet in the end he chose to join Solskjaer’s side.
And after adding him to his United ranks on deadline day, Solskjaer branded Pellistri a “real talent” and tipped him to fulfil his potential at United.
“Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe that he will be a real talent for the long term,” he said.
“Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent.
“Facundo has the perfect platform at Manchester United to develop and he has all of the technical qualities and the right mentality required to become a top player here.
“We are all looking forward to working with him to fulfil his potential over the coming years.”
Pellistri made his debut for Penarol at the age of 17 in August 2019 after impressing Forlan, who recommended the winger to his former club.
And after sealing his move to Old Trafford, ‘Facu’ said: “To have the confidence of the manager is an amazing feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.

“To join a club with the history of Manchester United is a dream come true. I have learnt a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me.”
Pellistri was not the only wonderkid to secure a switch to United, with the club also signing 16-year-old defender Willy Kambwala from French side Sochaux.
