Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has explained why he feels Scott McTominay should start over Paul Pogba for Manchester United in the big match on Saturday. Pogba was benched for the second consecutive game this week as United went on to record a huge win over Paris Saint-Germain.
He did come on to provide the assist for Marcus Rashford’s winning effort, but Solskjaer has opted to start with two holding midfielders this past week.
The change in midfield has resulted in two good results against Newcastle and PSG.
And Solskjaer now faces a decision on whether he changes things around in midfield for the tough test against Chelsea.
Bruno Fernandes and Pogba play a similar role at United with both players looking to push forward.

But McTominay and Fred both help provide that cover in front of the defence and Johnson believes the former will give Solskjaer exactly what he wants against Chelsea.
“Sometimes players like McTominay will strive on an opportunity like this in terms of playing against a top team in a big game,” he said on Premier League Daily.
“He would know the manager trusts him if he puts him in.
“Sometimes you get that desire from the youngsters more.

“Bigger names can sometimes think, ‘I’m so-and-so, I haven’t got to do quite as much of the dirty work as maybe somebody else’.
“I’d like to see him give McTominay a go and let him crash into a few tackles and stamp his name into the game.
“But they’re certainly going to need some help with the back four, whether it’s two sitting.
“They’re just going to need some bodies who are willing to run around.
“They’re a fantastic side and when they work hard and do it together, they’re going to be very, very tough to beat.”
Solskjaer is expected to make some changes to his squad with Edinson Cavani potentially available to make his debut.
Mason Greenwood and Harry Maguire are also back in contention after recovering from their respective injury issues.
