Manchester United have been told to sign three stars of the World Cup and back boss Erik ten Hag with a triple swoop to get the Red Devils into the top four. United went into the break fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and will be hoping to leapfrog Antonio Conte’s side into the top four in 2023.

After Cristiano Ronaldo had his contract terminated at Old Trafford, the club may look to bring forward their plans to recruit a striker, with several names mentioned ahead of a potential January move. Ronaldo was dropped at the World Cup by Portugal boss Fernando Santos for Goncalo Ramos, and ex-United midfielder Paul Parker believes that the Benfica striker could help fire United into the Champions League places.

“He [Ramos] got a spot in the Portuguese squad because he deserved it,” Parker told MyBettingSites. “He has scored a lot of goals for Benfica and if Erik ten Hag has been looking at him prior to the World Cup I can fully understand why they want to sign him.

“He would be a good addition to the Man United squad because they really need a new centre forward. And when they get that I believe that they can be in the top four as well at the end of the season.”

Antoine Griezmann’s stunning tournament in Qatar has even prompted calls for him to be awarded the Golden Ball alongside Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, and despite only sealing his permanent return to Atletico Madrid in October, Parker believes that the Frenchman would be an “amazing addition” to United.

“Antoine Griezmann is a really good and a really experienced player,” Parker added. “He is clever and he finds space in the middle. He is really a tough cookie and Diego Simeone loves him. He really respects him because he is a good player but he also works very hard. Griezmann would definitely be an amazing addition for any top side in the Premier League and Man United would be lucky to have him in their squad.”

Ten Hag has previously fielded questions over goalkeeper David De Gea, with the Spaniard’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, though the club do have an option to extend his deal for another year. Parker has claimed that Portugal’s stopper Diogo Costa could replace De Gea, however.

“If Manchester United really wants a new goalkeeper, then they should sign Diogo Costa from FC Porto,” Parker continued.

“I have seen him a lot for Porto and now he also did a brilliant job during the World Cup. He would be the guy to sign if they don’t have faith in De Gea.”
