Man Utd ‘enquire about Vinicius Junior’ as Jadon Sancho transfer alternative

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior as they seek out alternatives to Jadon Sancho.

United are refusing to give up on top target Sancho, despite having been told by Borussia Dortmund this week that the winger would be staying in Germany.

Nevertheless, with the Bundesliga club playing hardball and demanding a transfer fee upwards of £100million for their star man, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are having to consider a plan B.

And they have asked La Liga champions Madrid about the availability of young winger Vinicius, according to Defensa Central.

The Spanish publication claims that the 20-year-old was not happy at being left on the bench for Los Blancos' Champions League defeat to Manchester City last Friday.

Vinicius, who has also been on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris-Saint Germain, is primarily a left winger.

But he can also play on the right or through the middle, making him a tantalising prospect to any suitors looking to add depth to their attack.

The Brazilian made 38 appearances in all competitions this season, although mainly as a substitute, scoring five goals and chipping in with four assists.

But any suitors hoping he can be tempted away from the Bernabeu are likely to be disappointed.

Vinicius is contracted to Madrid until 2025, and it has been reported his deal includes a gargantuan release clause of €700m (£630m).

Defensa Central claims Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has high hopes for Vinicius and is not interested in selling him

The report adds that Vinicius sees his long-term future being at Madrid, and is likely to be given more game time next season with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard having been below par recently.

Chelsea were the last club to enquire about the winger's availability, according to AS .

The Spanish publication claims Arsenal and PSG have shown interest in the past, but it was Chelsea who last lodged their interest, having made contact with Madrid as recently as November.

Signed for €40m (£36m) from Flamengo two years ago, Vinicius is seen as the future of the Spanish giants.
