Manchester United have a flexible alternative plan to Jadon Sancho which would affect Red Devils star Mason Greenwood. Borussia Dortmund star Sancho remains United’s top target ahead of next Monday’s transfer deadline. Reports claim United had a bid of around £91million turned down for the England international earlier this week.
Sancho’s arrival would likely demote Greenwood to second-choice right winger at Old Trafford despite the teenager’s success in that position last season.
Greenwood would also then be the most obvious backup choice to centre-forward Anthony Martial.
However, that could change if United do not end up signing Sancho.
United are interested in a couple of strikers before next Monday’s deadline.

Free agent Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid star Luka Jovic are both linked with moves to United.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims Cavani and Jovic are on United’s list of alternatives to Sancho, despite being a different type of player to the winger.

If United were to sign either Cavani or Jovic, then Greenwood would remain the club’s first-choice player off the right.
Sheth says Watford’s Ismaila Sarr is also a backup option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

“It’s thought United are working on at least four alternatives to Jadon Sancho,” Sheth said on the Transfer Show.
“We’ve spoken already of course about Ousmane Dembele.
“We also hear there are discussions at Old Trafford around Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic and free agent Edinson Cavani, formerly of course of Paris Saint-Germain.
“While Cavani and Jovic aren’t seen as like-for-like replacements for Jadon Sancho, I think United’s priority is to strengthen the depth of that forward line.
“With Cavani, United would have to take into account his wages and his age, and also the length of contract Cavani would want at this stage of his career.
“As for Jovic, this is quite interesting actually, because Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane won’t rule out a departure.”
United have only signed one player this summer, bringing in midfielder Donny van de Beek.
And on Wednesday morning, former right-back Gary Neville tweeted his disappointment at the club’s summer business.
Neville wrote: “It’s appalling that in this market which is probably the easiest in PL history to get transfers done that United haven’t done more yet!
“They must get Ole a CB, LB and forward pre deadline! The others are managing to get things over the line why not United!”
