Man Utd ‘open talks’ with Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over transfer

Manchester United have opened talks over a summer transfer swoop for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports from Italy.

The Red Devils are widely expected to sell Paul Pogba this summer, and Serbian international Milinkovic-Savic could replace him at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old had impressed in helping Lazio to second place in Serie A, scoring five goals along the way, before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.

And United have now begun talks with the midfielder's representatives, according to Foot Mercato.

The Italian publication claims United see him as the ideal replacement for Pogba, but face competition from real Madrid, Paris-Saint Germain and Juventus.

Last month it was reported that PSG were preparing a bid for the £87million-rated midfielder.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported that PSG director Leonardo is a big fan of the midfielder and is ready to stump up the cash.

Milinkovic-Savic is contracted to Lazio until 2024, so any club wanting to sign him would have to meet Lazio's asking price of 100m euros (£87m).

Chelsea have also previously been linked with the 15-cap Serbia ace.
