Man Utd squad revealed for Chelsea clash as Cavani and Greenwood return, five missing

Manchester United’s squad has been revealed for the match against Chelsea this evening in the Premier League. Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani are all included by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to leapfrog the Blues in the table.

Anthony Martial does not feature as he serves the second match of a three-game suspension following his red card against Tottenham.

Brandon Williams, Marcos Rojo and Facundo Pellistri played for the Under-23s last night against Everton and therefore will not be involved either.

Eric Bailly is also missing with an injury he suffered on the international break.

Cavani could make his debut for the Red Devils following his deadline day move to Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United also have Marcus Rashford, Odion Ighalo and Greenwood as striker options.

Solskjaer suggested Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Harry Maguire would all be involved in his pre-match press conference.

“I hope and expect all three of them to be available for selection,” he said.

“Of course, we’ve got a training session this morning but they’ve all got a chance, all of them.

“There are different reasons: Edinson wants to tick all the boxes that he’s gone through in his programme to be ready and make an impact. His last preparation is going to be today and then I will have a discussion. Yesterday seemed positive with Mason and Harry.”

All three were spotted at the Lowry Hotel – the venue where the squad meet before matches.

Alex Telles was not spotted with the rest of the team but that’s because he is staying at the hotel following his move from Porto.

Axel Tuanzebe starred in the Champions League win against PSG earlier this week in his first match since late last year.

Now Solskjaer has challenged the centre-back to stay fit and show consistency in his performances.

He said: “A long while. He’s feeling a little bit tired of course, you do when it’s the first game for you for 10 months or something.

“And what a performance, it was fantastic from the kid.

“We know he’s capable of that, now it’s about getting consistently fit over a long period and we know Axel is a top central defender.”
