Manchester United midfielder Fred has somewhat surprisingly suggested his side could yet challenge for the Premier League title this season.
United have had another up-and-down campaign so far, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side looking a lot more impressive away from home than at Old Trafford.
But with just over a third of the season gone they remain only eight points behind league leaders Liverpool having played two games fewer.
United have come from behind to win a number of games this season, and speaking to their official website Fred believes it says a lot about the side.
“The key to coming back and winning is our concentration in every game, going on to the pitch to do our best and be decisive and to believe,” he said.
“Our team have done this in some games this season, we’ve had some great performances, so we must aim for this consistency, to continue having great games and to go very far with a run of great performances."
United face Sheffield United on Thursday followed by a clash against rivals Leeds on Sunday.
And Fred has insisted anything is still possible this season, and challenged his teammates to try to win every game remaining before the turn of the year.
“We’re very close to the top of the table and we’ve got some big games coming up in December,” he added.
“If we can win all of them, we’ll be very close to the leaders at the top of the league or we could even take first place.
"So we’ll look to win every game and I’m certain our team will do everything to reach the top of the table and stay there."
United also have a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Everton coming up next week, and kick off their FA Cup campaign on January 9 with a home match against Championship side Watford.
