Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has been told he needs to make four new signings by former striker Louis Saha.
It comes after the Red Devils came through a tough week with a win over Everton at Goodison Park.
After defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir in succession, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was desperate for a victory and got one.
And while the pressure has been lifted for now, Saha reckons the Red Devils coach needs backing in the transfer window.
He said: “Some new signings like (£47million midfielder) Fred, you can see the quality but he’s not going to make the difference.
"The signing of Fernandes, you need four of them. You need four of them to actually compete and this is what is missing. You need to know the mentality of new players.
"I want players there who want to win the Champions League and win big trophies. This is what is required here."
But where does Solskjaer need to strengthen his squad and will Woodward fork out the cash needed?
The first position that should be on their shortlist is another defender – which may seem bizarre after splashing a world-record £85m on Harry Maguire.
However, when the Englishman's form goes off the boil – the whole team suffers detrimentally – and RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano appears to be the top choice.
The Frenchman is available for £36m when a clause in his contract triggers next summer but there will be competition for the centre-back.
Jadon Sancho also props to mind with the Borussia Dortmund star the top target over the transfer window, and if he is not signed a right-winger must be brought in.
And even someone to play on the left would not go amiss – with Anthony Martial desperately off the boil.
The Frenchman has yet to have a shot on target this Premier League campaign while a long-term successor to Nemanja Matic could also be on Solskjaer's list.
It is clear he is trying to mold Scott McTominay for the role but a top-class defensive midfielder could be the difference between finishing fourth or not.
