Manchester United continue to be linked with a transfer swoop for Raphael Varane and will reportedly double his wages should he join Old Trafford. Real Madrid are ready to sell the France international if he opts to snub a new contract at the Bernabeu.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will once again look to strengthen his side this summer.

That’s after United failed to win the Europa League final and finished second in the Premier League.

Spanish outlet ABC claim after signing David Alaba, Real Madrid are ready to make decisions on Sergio Ramos and Varane.

The Frenchman currently earns about £5million a season at Los Blancos but United are ready to double that if they can complete the signing of him.

Varane has been linked with a switch to United for years but it appears this summer it could finally happen.

The 28-year-old has yet to sign a new deal at Real despite playing in 32 La Liga matches this season.

The reports also claim Real are ready to sell Varane for £60m if he snubs a new contract offer.

United could face competition from PSG though with the French side interested and the Spanish giants wanting Kylian Mbappe this summer.

It could mean some sort of swap deal with money on top could appeal to both sides.

United will be desperate to add Varane though as they have looked woefully short in defence since Harry Maguire was injured.

Varane has recently opened up on his future but claims he is fully focused on Euro 2020 first.

“This is not the time to talk about my future,” said the defender. “I am focused on the selection, on this Euro.

“It is normal and logical to ask the question, and for my part it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines. We are all human beings. We can think about it.

“As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.

“I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned.”

United have been linked with a number of moves this summer.

As well as Varane, Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish have all been linked with switches to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer will want to close the gap even more and legitimately challenge for the Premier League title next season.
