Manchester United transfer news LIVE: Jadon Sancho and Thiago Alcantara latest, Sergio Reguilon offer, Gareth Bale link plus Premier League updates

Manchester United are hoping to be busy in the summer transfer window.

Donny van de Beek has already arrived in a £40m deal from Ajax but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful he won’t be the only new face through the door before the deadline.

Jadon Sancho remains the club’s No 1 target with an agreement reached over personal terms and agents’ fees. Now they must agree a fee with Borussia Dortmund holding out for £120m. Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale has emerged as a surprise second-choice while Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich is another option apparently being considered. Reinforcements at the back in the shape of left-back Sergio Reguilon are also being mooted. We’ll have all the latest throughout the day:

UNITED IN NEGOTIATIONS FOR REGUILON

Manchester United are deep in negotiations with Real Madrid for left-back Sergio Reguilon, according to Spanish daily Marca.

Reguilon impressed whilst out on loan at Sevilla last season, and played an integral part in their success in winning the Europa League for a sixth time.

Marca state that Real are insisting on a buy-back clause be inserted into the deal, which they can activate within one or two seasons.

This scenario echoes the deal that took former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata to Juventus in 2014. The Spanish side sold Morata for €20m, but called him back two years later and paid the Italian side €30m.

Marca claims that the final fee for Reguilon is estimated to be in the region of €25m, but the wrangling continues over the buy-back clause.

UNITED RETURN FOR PERISIC

As talks for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho continue to drag on, Manchester United are reportedly turning their attention to former target Ivan Perisic.

The 31-year-old won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in August, but the Bundesliga champions opted out of turning his loan spell into a permanent deal, and the Croatian has since returned to parent club Internazionale.

The Telegraph states that United are now once again looking at Perisic should a move for Sancho stall, with the Italian side eager to move him on as he’s surplus to requirements under boss Antonio Conte.

United first enquired about Perisic when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club, but baulked at Inter’s demands.

PORTO LOWER ASKING PRICE FOR UNITED TARGET TELLES

Manchester United’s chances of signing FC Porto left-back Alex Telles has increased, as the Portuguese outfit have reportedly lowered their asking price.

The Premier League side are in the market for a left-back, with United also rumoured to be interested in Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon. However, it’s reported that the club are unwilling to meet the Spanish outfit’s £27m asking price.

According to Portuguese daily A Bola, Telles represents a cheaper alternative. The publication also believes that representatives of the player have already travelled to England for talks with United.

A Bola state that Porto had originally put a €30m (£27m) price tag on Telles, but have since reduced their demands as his contract expires in a year’s time, and fear losing him for nothing.

It’s reported that they now seek €20m (£18.5m) for the 27-year-old.

UNITED REJECT LATEST ROMA SMALLING OFFER

Manchester United have rejected AS Roma’s latest offer for England international Chris Smalling, according to Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero.

The two sides have been in talks over a permanent deal for the defender throughout the summer, but so far a deal hasn’t materialised.

It’s been reported that Smalling is pushing for a return to Italy after a successful season in Serie A with the Roman club.

Il Messaggero states that the Premier League side are still demanding a fee in the region of €20m (£18.5m) for Smalling, a figure the Italian side are unwilling to meet.

Roma have reportedly offered €9.5m with €2m in bonuses, which United have rejected.
