Mourinho told Chelsea stars "you played s***" in brutally honest team-talks

Former Chelsea star Willian has claimed that Jose Mourinho used to tell his Blues squad they ‘played s***’ in brutally honest team-talks.

The Brazilian star moved to Stamford Bridge for £30million ahead of Mourinho’s first season back in charge at Chelsea after leaving Real Madrid.

He went on to become a key player for the legendary Portuguese manager, playing in all but two games as Chelsea won the Premier League in his second season at the club.

Willian would continue to be a key player for Chelsea until leaving for Arsenal in the summer of 2020, winning another league title, the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Things did not turn out as well for Mourinho, who was sacked halfway though his third campaign back at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea floundering in the top-flight.

Despite the sour ending to his reign though, Willian has insisted that Mourinho is one of the best managers he has worked under.

And the Brazilian star also revealed that his former Chelsea boss had a reputation for delivering brutally honest team-talks to his squad, particularly when they were playing poorly.

“Best manager for me that I worked with, for me he was the best,” Willian told the Vibe With FIVE podcast when asked about Mourinho.

Who do you think is Chelsea's best ever manager? Let us know in the comments section…

“He has a way to speak with players and he’s very honest you know. When you don’t play good, he’d come and say ‘you played s***’.

“And when you played good he’d come and say ‘yes you played good’. Every training was always good, always intense.

“And the way he talked to us at half-time, before the games, for me he was the best.”

After leaving Chelsea in 2020, Willian endured a disastrous one-season spell at Arsenal, before terminating his contract early to move to Corinthians in his native Brazil.

Meanwhile, Mourinho’s managerial star has faded badly since his second exit from Chelsea and is now in charge of Serie A giants Roma.
