The agent of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has invited Newcastle United’s ownership group to get in touch over a potential move for the 22-year-old’s services. The Magpies are expected to be heavily backed by their new custodians in future transfer windows after the club’s Saudi-led takeover was finally completed last week.
The Public Investment Fund, which represents the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, now owns an 80 per cent stake in Newcastle after purchasing the club from its previous owner, Mike Ashley.
They are anticipated to commit plenty of funding over the next few months and years in order to establish Newcastle as English football’s newest powerhouse in good time.
A number of high-profile stars have already been linked with the Magpies since the arrival of their wealthy new owners.
The likes of Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard and even Harry Kane have recently been mentioned in connection with the club, who could emerge as one of the market’s biggest players when the January window rolls around.
Newcastle are reportedly also looking to improve their ranks at centre-back, with Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet said to be among their top targets.

However, Bastoni’s agent has put his client forward as a potential option for the Tyneside club despite only signing a new contract with Inter in May.
Tullio Tinti, who represents the defender, told Tuttomercatoweb that he would be open to hearing from Newcastle but stressed that Bastoni is by no means unhappy with his current situation in Milan.
“He signed a contract a short time ago,” said Tinti. “I haven’t heard from Newcastle yet.
“I hope they will call me, but he is very happy at the Nerazzurri for now.”
There is currently no reason to believe that Newcastle are actively targeting a move for Bastoni, but the Inter man is already likely to be well-known by plenty of top sides.
He has emerged as one of Serie A’s best young centre-backs in recent years and, as a left-footed player, would be a shrewd acquisition for no shortage of clubs across Europe.
Meanwhile, former England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor recently tipped Newcastle to pursue the signatures of Aaron Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho in January as their new owners aim to kick off the club’s new era with a bang.
“I’d go and get Ramsey or someone like that,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT last week.

“He’s still a good player and it isn’t working for him at Juventus at the moment. I’d target those kinds of players where you don’t have to pay them silly money.
“I’d take Coutinho, too, because we were talking about the Man City takeover and they had Robinho come in.
“Coutinho’s not really playing his football properly at Barcelona, and Barcelona will take anything, they still owe Liverpool for him, don’t they?
“Barcelona could say: ‘You cancel that Liverpool debt, and you can have him!’”
