Newcastle United are hosting Burnley this evening at St James’ Park as the Magpies aim to get back to winning ways.
Steve Bruce’s side lost to Brighton before pinching a point against Tottenham in the final moments thanks to that controversial penalty against Eric Dier. Burnley have two defeats to their name and will be desperate to pick up points themselves before the international break.
Follow all the action below following the conclusion of Leeds vs Man City:
10 minutes to go until kick off. If Leeds vs Man City looked like a free-flowing goal fest on paper then this fixture looks the complete opposite.
Two teams focused on defence, keeping their shapes and making use of just a handful of chances a game. I’m not expecting a thriller to be honest.
Reaction from Leeds boss, Marcelo Bielsa, who told Match of the Day:
“The start and the end were with City and the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half were a bit better for us ,
“For them to be superior to us is pretty easy for them, it doesn’t require much effort, whereas for us it requires us to go to the limit to be on their level.
“We couldn’t take the ball off them and they were taking the ball off us very easily. We did it with a lot of effort, a lot of aggression to win the ball back and the confidence in our game grew.
“It wouldn’t have been fair if we had won the match, it would’ve been possible, but not fair.”
Pep Guardiola is smiling throughout his post game interview. He clearly enjoyed the game even if Man City didn’t win.
Are they losing the ruthlessness that he built in his first couple of seasons at the club?
Ederson was at fault for Man City conceding tonight but then he also had to make six saves to keep City in the game.
More defensive frailties for Man City?
We’ll bring you the reaction from Elland Road but for now our focus goes to St. James’ Park.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce makes four changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Tottenham.
Captain Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie are out with injuries with Miguel Almiron and Javier Manquillo dropping to the bench.
Allan Saint-Maximin returns after a three-match absence with an ankle problem, while Emil Krafth, Fabian Schar and Jamal Lewis all start.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche makes two changes to the side that started their 1-0 home defeat to Southampton.
Jimmy Dunne and Matej Vydra drop to the bench as Ashley Barnes and James Tarkowski make their first Premier League starts of the campaign.
90+3 mins: Full time. The points are shared, Leeds dug deep and found a way back into the match. Ederson’s poor clearance allowinf Rodrigo to latch onto the ball and equalise for the home side.
More questions for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. Benjamin Mendy had a tough time tonight, could we see a new left-bck at the Etihad before the end of the transfer window?
90 mins: Three minutes added time. Three more minutes of carnage.
89 mins: Bernardo puts a corner into the box for City, it skips through and Rodrigo loses possession. De Bruyne receives it out on the left and he sends it into the box. Sterling gets to the ball but heads it wide.
87 mins: Sterling goes down and wants a penalty but he doesn’t get one. It might not matter as Foden is played down the left wing. Sterling is wide open in the middle but the pass is intercepted by Meslier.
