Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cheekily thinks Man Utd can win title next year due to omen

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed an encouraging omen which will give Manchester United hope of winning the Premier League season.

The Norwegian manager was sacked by United on Sunday morning following a disastrous 4-1 loss to Watford, having been under pressure for much of the season due to poor results.

United were left seventh in the table having lost five matches across seven outings, leaving them 12 points off league leaders Chelsea before December.

Yet despite his sacking, Solskjaer took part in a rare farewell interview with MUTV where he thanked supporters and promised he would be back at united.

He remained highly respectful towards the club and even added that United have a stronger squad than when he took charge in 2018, suggesting they would go on to finally win silverware next season.

Solskjaer said: “I leave this club with a better squad… I don’t wanna pre-empt anything but the two times I’ve left Molde they’ve won the league after!”

The 48-year-old won the Norwegian league with Molde in his first management stint, securing titles in 2011 and 2012.

They went on to win the title both then and after he left a second time in 2018.

Yet, while fans will appreciate his loyalty to the club and the tongue-in-cheek positivity, United have far greater opposition in the way of them and a 21st Premier League title than Molde had.

The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season in charge in 2013.

They now face strong competition from Per Guardiola’s Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Chelsea, who have performed outstandingly since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment at the beginning of 2021.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are still in search of a manager to take over at Old Trafford in place of Solskjaer.
