Peter Crouch has lost weight despite bingeing on booze and junk food. The 6ft 7in beanpole ex-striker is baffled that he hasn’t piled on any pounds since hanging up his boots.
Crouchy, 41, said: “My body reacted to retirement by getting even lighter.” n his new book, How to Be an Ex-Footballer, he explained: “While recording my podcast I would drink several pints of Guinness with a burger and chips.
“On a Friday night I would open a bottle of wine with [wife] Abbey, and then wash it down with cold lagers. On the Saturday night I would do the same. While preparing and consuming a Sunday roast I would once again reach for the bottle opener.”

Peter, who says he was just over 13.5st as a player, added: “On the NHS body mass index calculator, I came up as underweight, so you can understand why the prospect of losing even more meat from my bones was disappointing.”
Crouch earned a spot in the Premier League 100 club during his time as a player, but he has earned even more fame post retirement.
The former Liverpool star launched his own podcast alongside Chris Stark – and he is a regular pundit on BT Sport and Amazon Prime.
