Paris Saint Germain could be set to hamper Manchester United once more as they are plotting a move for Reds’ target Franck Kessie. The AC Milan midfielder announced himself as one of Europe’s top midfielders having recorded 13 assists and six goals in 37 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri in the previous campaign.

He played a crucial role as Stefano Pioli’s side qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2013.

However, the Ivorian midfielder’s future at the San Siro looks very finite, as the club have been unable to extend his contract which expires next summer.

If a new deal for the 24-year-old cannot be agreed, then he will be able to depart the club on a free transfer.

And this is where Paris Saint Germain are lurking according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

PSG have become a sight to cause sore eyes to the Italian giants, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side have already taken former Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer.

If they were to sign Kessie on a free transfer as is being suggested, then it would also be another blow to Manchester United.

The Italian outlet understand the French giants are putting together a five year contract worth a staggering €12m per year including bonuses, to secure Kessie’s signature.

This would equate to double the €6m Milan have offered to keep him at the San Siro.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are also experiencing their own problems with tying down key midfielders to new contracts.

Classy playmaker Paul Pogba could still exit Old Trafford on a free transfer next season with his contract set to expire on June 30th.

He has been pivotal for United this season, contributing seven assists in his first six matches for the Red Devils.

His form has arguably been at its strongest since he arrived at Old Trafford for a then world record £89m transfer in 2016.

At one point this summer, it appeared the Frenchman was on his way out of the club as PSG were reported to be circling United and preparing a move for Pogba.

However, the signing of Lionel Messi, just days after the Argentine announced his shock exit from Barcelona, resulted in any potential move for Pogba being shelved.

Pogba’s uncertain future reportedly beckoned United to start considering their options at the club, and Kessie’s name was reportedly high up the list.

However, PSG’s interest in the goalscoring Ivorian could scupper any possible move, particularly with the excitement generating around the Parc des Princes.

Pochettino’s side recently beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Champions League, thanks to goals from Idrissa Gueye and Lionel Messi’s first goal at the club.

Their 100 per-cent winning start in Ligue One also means they already lead the French top division by nine points.

They lost the title to Lille last season; however, the reigning French champions had been forced to sell key players such as Mike Maignan and Boubakary Soumare this summer.

Lille currently find themselves in ninth position in Ligue One after a rocky start to the season which has seen them lose three of their first eight matches.
