LGBTQ+ activist concerned by potential Qatari takeover of Man Utd
Construction has started at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex as the end of the season approaches. And fans on social media believe Sheikh Jassim may be behind this latest development. The Qatari billionaire is eager to acquire the club, despite facing competition from Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the Glazers cling to power.
Pictures have surfaced on social media showing a crane at Carrington, with work being done on United’s Academy centre.
And fans on Twitter are hoping it’s a clue that Sheikh Jassim will be the next owner of the club – with the Qatari billionaire previously pledging to improve facilities.
“Work progressing at uniteds (sic) Carrington training ground. Development on the academy building. Sheikh JASSIM Al Tani Seperated pledged investment?” said @UNITEDST4GE.
“No way SJR and The Glazers are investing in this, Sheikh Jassim already put his hand in his deep pockets? #SheikhJassimInatManUtd,” said @pau1luvsutd.
“Sheikh jassim (sic) is that you?” stated @arbouul.
User @HamzaMUFC_ said: “Sheikh Jassim at the wheel.”

“Sheikh Jassim at it already,” were the words of @A_AlAwakdhi81.
And @Mzeeshan_mufc responded by saying: “Why would the glazer (sic) renovate if they are on the verge of leaving it Sheikh Jassim that’s doing it.”
Right now, there’s nothing to suggest Sheikh Jassim is the one behind United’s decision to work on Carrington.
Ratcliffe, as well as the Qatari billionaire, has vowed to invest in all areas of the club should a takeover go ahead.
And there’s still no guarantee the Glazers will pack their bags and leave the club for good.

United fans have long wanted to see the back of the family, who have owned the club ever since 2005.
But while the Glazers are open to leaving, there’s still a possibility they’ll end up accepting minority investment.
Under Ratcliffe, brothers Joel and Avram would be permitted to stay in reduced roles before cashing in their stakes further down the line.
Yet Sheikh Jassim only wants 100 per cent control and isn’t willing to let the family remain as part of the agreement.
There’s been talk of United pursuing some big names in the event of any Qatari takeover.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, as well as Eduardo Camavinga and Kingsley Coman, have all been linked.
But it emerged on Thursday that Sheikh Jassim didn’t have any transfer targets in mind at the current moment in time.
Instead, his sole focus is on buying the club.
And whether he’s successful in that mission is something only time will tell.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor opened up on the United takeover process.
And he called on the Glazers to ‘go back to America’, while also expressing concerns over the Red Devils should they end up retaining power.
“I do feel sorry for Man United, I feel their pain,” he said.
“I do mock them sometimes about wanting the Glazers out, but when you hear about what’s going on behind the scenes – the fans must be pulling their hair out.
“It’s time for the Glazers to go back to America, let new owners come in and help them compete again.
“Man United aren’t far away. They’re three or four players away from competing for a league title.
“If the Glazers stay in, then you can’t see that kind of investment coming.
“I think they’re playing with fire and I can see a lot of backlash from the fans if they stay at the club.”
