There is still just over a week left to go of the transfer window before it slams shut and the Premier League sides have to make do with what they’ve got. There could be a clamour for signings and sales before then, with some business at Manchester United possibly still to do.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has time to rectify a mistake Graeme Souness thinks he made in the transfer market.
It has been a very strong window from United, who have brought in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for a combined £115m.
The next step for United is likely to be some sales, with plenty of deadwood still taking up space in Solskjaer’s squad.
And based on Liverpool legend Souness’s recent comments, they should offload Anthony Martial.

Following the return of a firing Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, Souness thinks that Solskjaer made a grave mistake in selling the Belgian instead of Martial, who has regularly underwhelmed since becoming the most expensive teenage footballer in history six years ago.
“I’ve always maintained that Manchester United made a mistake in letting him leave and keeping Anthony Martial instead and their scoring statistics suggest that’s the case,’ Souness told The Times.
“Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 games in two seasons at Inter; Martial’s 78 for United are spread across seven seasons and 259 games.

“Lukaku was an easy target who came for big money into a team with no real direction of where they were going.
“The signings were hit and miss and so was the football they were playing. He must have felt unloved to leave Old Trafford.”
Martial has scored just 78 goals in seven seasons, while Lukaku notched up 64 strikes in the 95 games he played for Inter Milan.
The Frenchman appears to have slipped down the pecking order too at Old Trafford, with Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani seemingly above him at striker.
Based on Transfermarkt’s valuation, United could fetch £40m for Martial, though that arguably does seem like a stretch.
But either way, with Solskjaer looking to sign a new world-class goal scorer next summer, cashing in on Martial now would surely be a good piece of business if he is to play a minor role this term.
