Son of Premier League icon, 16, makes Man City U19s squad for the first time

Emile Heskey's son Jaden was named in the Manchester City under 19 squad for the first time on Tuesday – despite being aged just 16.

The young forward signed a scholarship back in July having joined the academy at the age of eight when his dad returned to England after a spell with Newcastle Jets.

Emile, who scored 110 goals across his 516 Premier League appearances, will no doubt be full of pride after his son was named in Brian Barry-Murphy's squad for a UEFA Youth League clash against Copenhagen.

Jaden remained on the bench as Will Dickson, Adedire Mebude and Carlos Borges helped City to a 3-1 triumph hours before the first team played the same opponents in the Champions League.

City's under 19s now have 10 points from their first four matches in Group G, with the young Heskey getting the handy experience after scoring against Liverpool's under 18s last month.

That fixture included the sons of several former Premier League stars, including three in the Liverpool line-up.

Lewis Koumas, Jayden Danns and Keyrol Figueroa were all named in the 16 player squad of Marc Bridge-Wilkinson – the sons of Jason Koumas, Neil Danns and Maynor Figueroa respectively.

Koumas played in the Premier League for West Brom and Wigan, with Danns doing so for both Blackburn and Birmingham and Maynor Figueroa playing for both Wigan and Hull in the top-flight.

Despite the young Koumas netting twice in the U18 Premier League fixture, they slipped to a 4-3 defeat to City with Heskey's son Jaden on target for the visitors.

Emile, who retired after a spell with Bolton back in 2016, recently took up the position of head of women's football development at Leicester City.

Heskey, who played 62 times for England between 1999 and 2010 and scored seven goals, has six children including three with partner Chantelle.

Back in 2016, younger son Reigan joined his brother in City's youth system.
