Southampton are working on a late deal to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool on loan, Daily Star Sport understands.
The Saints are said to be “excited” about the potential of signing the Japanese star, who has struggled for game time this season.
The playmaker has been unable to find his feet since joining the Reds a year ago.
He’s been somewhat left on the sidelines due to the prominence of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
And the arrival of Diogo Jota pushed him even further down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
The Japan international clearly has talent, but hasn’t been able to showcase his abilities this season.
So far, he's made just nine starts in the Premier League, making just 17 appearances across all competitions.
But that could all change soon, as Daily Star Sport understands he’s in talks with Southampton.

The talks are advanced, but the deal is yet to be completed.
Minamino is known for his versatility, due to the fact he can play anywhere across the front three.
He's also featured as a number ten in the past, and will be a solid addition to Southampton's squad.
Liverpool have been fairly quiet this month, but had a hectic deadline day as they brought in Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies.
Allowing Minamino to leave, even on loan, could free up a space in the Liverpool side for them to register their two new additions.
Due to the timing of the talks with Southampton, they could require a deal sheet in order to complete the move.
