Tottenham are weighing up a late swoop for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie ahead of this month’s transfer deadline, according to reports. The Italian giants are said to be willing to sell the 22-year-old, who is keenly admired by Spurs director Fabio Paratici.
McKennie has been pushed down the pecking order at Juventus following the arrival of Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo.
He made 46 appearances in all competitions last season but has reportedly been deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Max Allegri.
Spurs have been mentioned in connection with McKennie in recent weeks, with former Juventus chief Paratici negotiating his move to the club in September of last year, initially on a season-long loan deal.
McKennie’s switch was made permanent when the nine-time European champions exercised their option to buy the United States international from Schalke at the end of last season.
However, a premature exit could soon be on the cards with Spurs harbouring a ‘strong interest’ in securing his services, according to Sport Mediaset.

The report claims that Paratici’s desire to bring McKennie to north London is genuine, but the 49-year-old will face stiff competition from Aston Villa in the race for his signature over the coming days.
Everton have also been credited with an interest in the Texas native, who has failed to convince Allegri that he offers enough to justify a regular first-team spot.
It has been suggested that Juventus could be looking for a fee between £21million and £26m to part ways with McKennie before the end of the month.
Other reports have suggested that Spurs have tabled a player-plus-cash offer that would see Moussa Sissoko go the other way.
However, such a move is not understood to be an option for Paratici, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs would likely be forced to meet Juventus’ asking price in order to land McKennie, with the midfielder under contract until the summer of 2024.
It remains to be seen whether Paratici will be able to land the Juventus ace in the remaining seven days of the transfer window.
He has already secured the signings of Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero since the end of last season.

Meanwhile, former Spurs goalkeeper Brad Friedel recently tipped McKennie to join a Premier League club this summer, with the 50-year-old waxing lyrical over the midfielder’s attributes earlier this month.
“We’ve [USA] got a few players at massive clubs right now,” Friedel told Pickswise.
“I think the likes of a Weston McKennie, if he’s really focused, he could play at the biggest of big clubs in the Premier League.
“He has that style of play, he’s very physical, he’s very fast, he’s good in the air, good with his feet. He is a real talent.”
