Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, according to reports in France.
Spurs face the possibility of losing Harry Kane this summer after the England captain suggested in an interview last month that he is keen on a move and wants talks with the club’s chairman Daniel Levy.
According to RMC Sport, Spurs are already in the market for a new striker and have made the signing of Thuram their top priority.
The report claims that the 23-year-old is speaking with Spurs about a move to the Premier League and ‘discussions have advanced in recent days’.
Thuram, who is the son of French World Cup winner Lilian, is in France’s squad for their Euro 2020 campaign.
The striker joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2019 and has scored 18 goals in 60 Bundesliga appearances.
When asked about his future last month, Thuram said: ‘For now, I’m focusing on the France team and the Euros.
‘When I get out of the Euros, we’ll see what happens.’
Tottenham, meanwhile, are reportedly in advanced talks to appoint Paulo Fonseca as Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement.
Fonseca left Roma at the end of this season after guiding the team to a seventh-placed finish in Serie A.
