West Ham have announced the signing of Said Benrahma from Championship side Brentford. Benrahma has joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy. West Ham had agreed an initial £25million fee to sign the Algeria international on a permanent basis.
However, a problem found during Benrahma’s medical on Friday delayed the deal and meant only a loan could be completed.
Reports say West Ham will now pay a loan fee of £4m, with the obligation to buy being an initial £21m plus £5m in add-ons.
A host of Premier League clubs were linked with Benrahma following his superb season for Brentford last term.
His 17 goals in all competitions were instrumental in Brentford’s run to the play-off final, where they lost to London rivals Fulham.
