New Barcelona head coach Xavi is reportedly eyeing a triple transfer raid on Chelsea, with the La Liga giants keen on striking loan deals for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.

Xavi made an emotional return to the Nou Camp last week to replace Ronald Koeman after the ex-Everton chief was axed at the end of October.

The 41-year-old returns to Catalonia with the club in turmoil. Barcelona are struggling to adapt to life without Lionel Messi following his shock departure in the summer and are languishing in 10th place in La Liga.

So it should come as no surprise that the Spaniard has seemingly wasted no time in plotting his future moves in the transfer market.

According to a new report from Marca, Xavi has told the Barcelona hierarchy to snap up a trio of Chelsea stars in the New Year.

Both Pulisic and Ziyech have struggled for minutes under Thomas Tuchel this term, and it’s believed that the duo would be interested in making the temporary switch to Spain.

Although they have hardly featured under Tuchel, he has used Hudson-Odoi on a regular basis this season – which could make it difficult for Barcelona to prise him away from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues academy graduate has also recently been handed the chance to impress in his favoured spot on the left-hand side of the front three, which could also entice the 21-year-old into staying put.

The report goes on to claim that, of the three, a deal for Pulisic is the most likely.

The United States international has seen his playing time drastically drop after injury issues, and the opportunity to link up with American team-mate Sergino Dest could also play a role in luring the forward to the Nou Camp.

Although Chelsea wouldn’t be in line to receive a fee in any potential deals, moving any inflated salaries off of the wage bill would give Tuchel some room to manoeuvre in the January window.

Barcelona’s financial issues have been well documented over the past few months and is set to hamper their ability to strengthen ahead of 2022.

It seems as though Xavi will have to be astute in the transfer market if he is to reinvigorate his side with the aid of some new recruits.

The legendary midfielder has already wrapped up a deal to bring his former team-mate, Dani Alves, back to the club.

The 38-year-old full-back has agreed a deal in principle to return to Spain over five years after he left the club to join Juventus back in 2016.
