Young Man City fan snubs Messi, Neymar and Mbappe for Silva’s shirt

One young Manchester City fan snubbed Paris Saint-Germain's superstars to grab Bernardo Silva's shirt following City's 2-1 win over the French giants on Wednesday night.

City booked their spot in the Champions League knockout stages after coming from behind with goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus to cancel out Kylian Mbappe's opener.

The excitement was too much for one young City fan, who raced onto the pitch and made a beeline straight for Bernardo.

The Portuguese midfielder gave the youngster, who raced past the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, his shirt in heartwarming scenes at the Etihad.

Bernardo's popularity with the City fanbase has soared this season after a string of stunning displays.

The 27-year-old was tipped to leave Manchester in the summer but has since re-established himself as one of City's top players.

Although he didn't find the net in midweek, Bernardo's tally of four league goals this year is already double the two strikes he managed in the Premier League last term.

And his stunning resurgence under Pep Guardiola continued against PSG, where a stat after the game confirmed that the midfielder completed every single one of the 47 passes he attempted on the night.

His contribution helped City to a famous win and ensured they topped the group ahead of PSG's superstars.

Has Bernardo Silva been Man City's best player so far this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

It's now five seasons running that City have topped their group in the early stages of the Champions League; something that has only ever been achieved by one other English team in the shape of rivals Manchester United.

And Guardiola hailed the character of his team after they recovered from the setback of conceding early in the second half after a dominant first half display.

"Of course," said the City boss when asked if his side made a statement with their performance.

“PSG – what a team, what players, what can I say? We tried to keep these players far away from our goal. When they are close to your goal they can do anything.

“Except for five minutes after we conceded, when they [went for the] knockout on the counter-attack but couldn’t finish, we made a really top performance."

City wrap up their group campaign with a trip to RB Leipzig in a fortnight's time.
