Aspiration favourite Nimalee in doubt for Saturday

The Matt Smith-trained Nimalee will need to pass a vet examination if she is to start in Saturday’s Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick.

The last start winner is the $4 favourite for the fillies and mares’ quality handicap but a foot abscess has her under an injury cloud.

Stewards reported the “abscess to the near hind foot has burst” and Smith informed then that the farrier has fitted a three-quarter plate to the mare’s problem hoof.

“Should the mare be considered suitable to start by the stable, Nimalee will be subject to inspection by Racing NSW Chief Veterinarian Dr Toby Koenig,” the stewards release read.

Meanwhile, Chris Waller’s classy two-year-old filly She’s All Class has gone to the paddock and will not continue to chase a start in the Golden Slipper.

She’s All Class was an eye-catching second in last week’s Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes after previously finishing an unlucky third in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

The daughter of I Am Invincible was a $17 chance for the Golden Slipper prior to her withdrawal.
