One lucky horse racing punter is celebrating being £112k richer following Minella Indo’s win at the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
David Jackson had put a £1 each-way bet on for four horses during this year’s famous Cheltenham Festival.
And he was left sweating following successes in the first three races from Galvin, Sir Gerhard, and Quilixios.
Having splashed out just £2 on the bet, Minella Indo’s success means Jackson is pocketing a huge £112,854.
The win for Minella Indo, ridden by Jack Kennedy, secured a landmark for trainer Henry de Bromhead too.
The Irish trainer had already won the Champion Hurdle and Champion Chase and also had A Plus Tard in the Gold Cup.
That was ridden by Rachael Blackmore, who has had a stunning week at Cheltenham, though the Gold Cup belonged to Minella Indo and Kennedy.
Kennedy said: "I can't believe it, this is what I've dreamt of since I was a child.
“I’m just so grateful to Henry and (owner) Barry Maloney for giving me a chance and the opportunity to ride him. I can't thank them enough, I'll owe them forever.
"This is what I live for. I just can't believe this is after happening, I'm delighted.
"I was there very soon on him, but I didn't want to disappoint him, he carried me into it and I didn't want to be taking him back.
"I landed over the last and he pricked his ears, he was pulling up, but it wasn't out of tiredness and when he heard Rachael coming back at him, he took off again. It's unbelievable stuff."
