Top jockeys took recovery to the extreme as they braved the biting temperatures for a dip in an ice cold lake – wearing just swimwear.
Plucky riders Hollie Doyle, Tom Marquand and Kieran Shoemark decided a cosy, relaxing Sunday was not for them as they took the plunge in freezing conditions.
Record-breaker Doyle and husband Marquand were joined by Shoemark and they were pictured entering the icy lake for the ultimate cool down.
Each jockey used tow floats for the open water swimming adventure, a handy floatation device that increases visibility. And the trio hardly left racing fans envious as they shared pictures of their endeavours on social media.

Racing presenter Matt Chapman shared an image of the trip with the jockeys wearing only swimwear as they took to the lake. "Freezing outside so what do @HollieDoyle1 @TomMarquand and @KShoemark do? Bonkers all of them," he wrote.
The jockeys were described as 'mad' and 'mental' by racing fans for braving the lake with sub-zero temperatures hitting the UK in recent days.
"Good way to start a Sunday!" Marquand responded as one fan said: "I am cold just looking at that photo." Racing fans were also quick to point out the healing powers of the cold water as Doyle recovers from a broken elbow.
The 26-year-old – third in 2020 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards for breaking her own record for the most wins in a calendar year by a female jockey – suffered the injury in a 'freak fall' last week in Wolverhampton.
Leading jockey Doyle is now sidelined for the rest of January at least after crashing to the ground in the all-weather race. "Unfortunately, I’ve fractured my elbow and ruptured the ligaments around it," she confirmed.
"I went over the horse's head when he broke both front legs, which was a freak accident. It could have been worse as it was a freak fall but hopefully I’ll be back in few weeks."
