Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Tuesday’s card at Stony Creek.
BEST BET
DOOM STAR (Race 1 No. 1 – $3)
Going early with the best of the say at Stony Creek but confident Doom Star can get the job done in the first. He’s had a few goes without a win but his last couple of efforts have shown he’s ready to break through.
NEXT BEST
BILLIE DE LUNE (Race 2 No. 2 – $2.25)
Billie De Lune might have run out of chances with plenty of punters but she might be worth one more try at Stony Creek. She was narrowly beaten when back in trip at Wangaratta and could reward those that stuck with her this time.
FUDGING (Race 4 No. 1 – $2.80)
Fudging has plenty of weight at Stony Creek but he’s also in a winnable race on Tuesday. The Jerome Hunter-trained gelding won well at level two runs back before finishing 1 ¾ lengths from the handy Crowned Monarch last time out.

SPY COLONEL (Race 6 No. 2 – $8.50)
Spy Colonel didn’t fire but wasn’t terrible in an on-pacer’s race at The Valley after sold effort at Werribee before that. He drops back to Benchmark 58 level at Stony Creek and can improve significantly.
VALUE BET
STELLA REDENTE (Race 7 No. 6 – $8.50)
The Mornington-trained Stella Redente was narrowly beaten on her home track first-up but saves her best form for the Stony Creek 1100m course where she has a win and a second from two goes. She can run another bold race on Tuesday.
THE JOCKEY
MICHAEL WALKER
Michael Walker heads down to Stony Creek to take a book of four rides on Tuesday with the Robbie Griffiths and Matthew de Kock stable particularly keen to use his talents on a couple of fancied runners.
RUSSIAN BY (Race 1 No. 8 – $2.25), TORAMOUR (Race 2 No. 5, $6.50), OSTARA (Race 3 No. 8 – $2.60), ACROPOLIS HLL (Race 8 No. 6 – $16).
THE WEEK AHEAD
