Rachael Blackmore and Henry de Bromhead set for Sandown finale

Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore go for glory once more as Plan Of Attack takes aim at the bet365 Gold Cup.

Sandown's jump season finale comes just a few weeks after they raced into the Grand National history books with Minella Times – and starred at the Cheltenham Festival.

Plan Of Attack's fall in the Kim Muir was a rare setback at the meeting for the dominant duo and the sponsor's 5-1 joint favourite will try to make amends on Saturday.

With no jump racing in Ireland on the afternoon, Blackmore, the first female jockey to be leading rider at Cheltenham and to win the National, is free to travel to England.

“He seemed to be going well (at Cheltenham) and all I can tell you is Rachael is very keen to go over and ride him," said De Bromhead.

"I wouldn’t be a great tipster myself but she seems keen.”

Like the majority of the field, Plan Of Attack would be taking his chance from out of the handicap should the current top weight Clan Des Obeaux stand his ground.

De Bromhead said: “I’d obviously love him to come out, but we’re going to take our chance.

"It’s 3m 5f and I suppose, like we saw with Minella Times in the National, this guy hasn’t really been tried over this kind of trip.

“We’ve always thought it might suit him so, yes we’re 5lb out (of the handicap) if Clan Des Obeaux runs, but it’s a very light weight and we’re hoping that we get the improvement for that extra trip.”

De Bromhead also plans to run his Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Put The Kettle in the Grade 2 bet365 Celebration Chase, a race she is the 2-1 favourite for.

The seven-year-old’s rivals on the day could include the two-time Champion Chase hero Altior.
