The Moonee Valley Racing Club’s entire track staff won’t be on track for Saturday’s meeting after an order from Racing Victoria.
Moonee Valley was the scene of a positive Covid case after a traffic controller tested positive to the virus after the racecourse was used as a bulk testing centre during Melbourne’s recent outbreak.
The Victorian health department ruled one member of the Moonee Valley track staff was a close contact of the infected worker.
RV stood down The Valley’s entire track staff for Saturday’s meeting.
Flemington track manager Liam O’Keeffe and his Sandown counterpart Tim Bailey will lead a makeshift team of stand-in track staff to ensure Saturday’s meeting proceeds.
The Valley’s track staff will need to produce negative test results on Sunday to be allowed back to work.
