Having thrown his place in the tournament in doubt after a tough five setter against Taylor Fritz in the third round, Djokovic moved far better against Milos Raonic on Sunday.
It will be all eyes on the world No 1 as he takes on Alexander Zverev tonight.
But for Toni Nadal, Rafa’s uncle and former coach, the speed with which Djokovic recovered was a standout.
“It is surprising that so pain overcame him to often to the point he questioned his place in the tournament, but then it disappeared overnight, Toni wrote in a column for El Pais.
“(However) I will not be the one who questions the level of pain he is enduring; it’s something very common in an elite athlete.
“He probably hides them less than it should, a normal practice on the circuit.
“More than once, a player loses due to annoyances that he keeps to himself so that they do not sound like an excuse.”
